Double Trouble Challenge #201 SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing and SAS4Kids Challenge Halloween Card for Kids

We welcome you to Double Trouble, and this time EVERYONE should join in because the recipe is one that is easy to follow: 3 of something in your stash, 2 of anything from your stash and 1 of everything else from your stash! That comes from Thing 1…while Thing 2 and Thing 3 agreed for this challenge that extra chances in the drawing can be earned by following the TSOT sketch.

I have been busy making Halloween cards, and this challenge was an excellent opportunity to share one of them (maybe even two!). I was also inspired by the Send a Smile 4 Kids (SAS4Kids) current challenge, Fall/Halloween card for kids.

This card uses several die cuts, several oxide inks on the background, a stencil and a sentiment. The background was one that I made quite a while ago, by smooshing leftover distress oxide inks off my glass matt. I used Scorched Timber distress ink and a tree stencil (brand unknown) to add the trees. These adorable ghost dies are by Brass & Bliss, stamped on white paper with gold foil paper inserted behind their eyes and mouths. The Happy Halloween sentiment stamp with coordinating die is from Spellbinders. After I had everything put together, I added a little white ink splatter.

Just for fun, here is another Halloween card using more of the ghosts. So you could say this one follows the recipe by using several dies, several patterned papers, and a sentiment. Three of the 4 patterned papers are from a Unity pack. The other one (the green with haunted houses) is from a Stampin’ Up pack. This time I highlighted each ghost with a different color (gray, green and orange) with a little ink blending and then the paper inserted behind the eyes and mouths. The “boo” dies with coordinating stamps are by Honey Bee.

Thank you very much for stopping by, and we hope you will play along with us and share your wonderful creations!

ATC Class · Distress Inks · Halloween

October 2024 ATC Class

The theme this month was Halloween. The technique was to make our own “patterned paper” by using smaller stamps in different colored inks on the full sheet of cardstock paper, before then cutting it down to ATC size. Then we did ink blending around the edges. That was the base, and we could use whatever we wanted to finish them off. Almost all of the supplies I used were from the September Hero Arts kit. I did two different bases, and then the stamps/dies on both were all from that same set. (On the graveyard pattern, the moon stamp was stamped after the ATC cards were cut.) They were a lot of fun! On a sadder note, it was at this class that I found out the place where I take the classes, Soul Sentiments, will be closing at the end of the year. We are going to look into doing our ATC classes virtually or on the FB group.

Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge, Double Trouble Challenge #177 and a Cut Above Die Cut Challenge

https://sendasmile4kidschallenge.blogspot.com/

https://craftingacutabove.blogspot.com/2024/10/double-triple-die-cut-fun.html

This was my first attempt at making a card using the Waffle Flower postage collage set. It was more challenging than I was expecting it to be, mainly because there are so many possibilities for filling each section of the collage.

It is a card that a kid would enjoy, so I’m entering it into SAS4Kids challenge. For Double Trouble, it meets Thing 1’s color specifications and Thing 3’s requirement for a die (3 of the postage sections use die cuts–the spider and web, the tree with jack-o-lanterns, and the zombie hands reaching out to grab you). And then for Thing 2 I’m also entering it into the Cut Above Die Cut Challenge.

The other sections with bats and the sentiment are stamped with ink blending. The background it is attached to is lime green patterned paper.

Paper Funday Challenge #70

Anything goes with optional twist of fall colors. This card was made using elements from the September Hero Arts kit, which had lots of great Halloween dies and stamps in it. I ink blended the background with distress oxide inks, and the bats, tree and sentiment are stamped directly on the background. The house, gate and ghosts are stamped and die cut, then added with foam tape.

Festive Friday Challenge #FF0170

I went a little crazy making lots of Halloween cards. This one was made with a mini Sizzix Halloween set for the Sidekick. I used the bat and “boo” dies, and then the mini bat embossing folder for the tag. The background was made with a bat stencil on some orange paper with the black splatter marker from scrapbook.com. Then I used some fun Halloween ribbons and washi tape to add some texture and color.

Double Trouble Challenge #175 and TSOT Challenge #655

I made the card background using an inked embossing folder with a tree pattern. The ghost dies are by Brass & Bliss. I just got them a few days ago when I went with my cousin and my aunt to the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo in Mesa, AZ. They are cut out of white glitter paper. By using a die for Thing 1, using the sketch for Thing 3 and entering into the TSOT challenge for Thing 2…all the Things’ requirements have been met!

UPDATE: I’m so honored that my ghosty card was selected for the top 3 in both of these challenges!! 🙂
